The giant dune worm may be in the faze of it's evolution where it is consuming the living energy of the mars blue zones, to stay alive, for millions of years. Possibly, it could consume all the blue substance in some thousands of years and totally deplete the resource of a long existence for the astronauts going to Mars to live on it.

The spice that extends life and expands consciousness may in fact be blue, or it could be the result of the blue dunes being eaten by the worm so that the waste comes out of the other end of the worm (just as Earth worms do ) , in shape of spice as related to the main body of matter on Mars as having been transformed in this way by the worms.

That worms do exist and that their only source of food is the raw Earth in which they move, means that they digest only the earth minerals (as dead matter) or they feed on some living matter (the worm survives on any of them) , so the minerals go in on one side and come out on the other side, quite efficiently. So efficient for a fact, the the worms keep the earth on the stable level where the earth minerals go around in a cycle with the worm.
So having no apparent difference of earth or worm and other possible worms, the fact is that they are singular organisms that need only one environment or element. So then, because every planet is it's own singular element or mineral , the presence of worms on Mars and other planets would be very possible because worms are not worried about the type of minerals they ingest. rather, they ingest any singular type mineral matter in any planet that has minerals.
So worms spend most of their time totally surrounded by minerals such as earth. When they come up , it is the indicator that there is humidity in the air and the worms are absorbing oxygen that is important because the worm take this oxygen humidity with them back into the Earth.
The worms sense the humidity because on the upper layer of Earth, the humidity has an increase of weight and this weight is what pushes the worms upwards by action and reaction of the water on the surface.
So why the blue dunes?. Well because the humidity of the oxygen in the Earth also gets totally surrounded or insulated when the worms are again below the surface. So it is possible that this defines why we have a blue sky.
Worms are not appreciated much, but their function may be vital to the functioning of oxygen and humidity which, on the higher level , creates the atmosphere and cloud landscape.
Basically the Earth is also insulated by oxygen and humidity as the protective layer of the atmosphere on Earth or any other function , that of insulates Mars or any other planet.
for that matter .When you find that the facts of mars are indicating that it is being transformed by worms it may be true that humans going to Mars could use the blue matter
to extend life and expand consciousness
But we would need to do that before the worms cycle it into the brown Earth we see on our own planet.
Worms are said to be , "the farmers" of planets.

An earthworm is a tube-shaped, segmented worm found in the phylum Annelida. They are commonly found living in soil, feeding on live and dead organic matter. An earthworm's digestive system runs through the length of its body. It conducts respiration through its skin. It has a double transport system composed of coelomic fluidthat moves within the fluid-filled coelom and a simple, closed blood circulatory system. It has a central and a peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system consists of two ganglia above the mouth, one on either side, connected to a nerve cord running back along its length to motor neurons and sensory cells in each segment. Large numbers of chemoreceptors are concentrated near its mouth. Circumferential and longitudinal muscles on the periphery of each segment enable the worm to move. Similar sets of muscles line the gut, and their actions move the digesting food toward the worm's anus.[2]
Earthworms are hermaphrodites: each individual carries both male and female sex organs. As invertebrates, they lack either an internal skeleton or exoskeleton, but maintain their structure with fluid-filled coelom chambers that function as a hydrostatic skeleton.
"Earthworm" is the common name for the largest members of Oligochaeta (which is either a class or a subclass depending on the author). In classical systems, they were placed in the order Opisthopora, on the basis of the male pores opening posterior to the female pores, though the internal male segments are anterior to the female. Theoretical cladistic studies have placed them, instead, in the suborder Lumbricina of the order Haplotaxida, but this may again soon change. Folk names for the earthworm include "dew-worm", "rainworm", "night crawler", and "angleworm" (due to its use as fishing bait).
Larger terrestrial earthworms are also called megadriles (which translates to "big worms"), as opposed to the microdriles ("small worms") in the semiaquatic families Tubificidae, Lumbricidae, and Enchytraeidae, among others. The megadriles are characterized by having a distinct clitellum (which is more extensive than that of microdriles) and a vascular system with true capillaries.
Earthworms are far less abundant in disturbed environments and are typically active only if water is present.[3]

The worm may be the most efficient way to change the water input of humidity and the oxygen inside it as the:
humidity =bladder
oxygen=intestine
minerals=nerve cord
insulation=peripheral nerve
action reaction sense=coelom as body cavity
singularity=longitudinal muscle layer.
