We know on Earth that to displace through some shadow would take some time and that when displacement does so we are back in the light zone but we have displaced through shadow at some angle to the Suns position and that makes the inertial frame of reference.
Basically the universe could be short of matter as light to expose shadows and to show where the inertial reference frame of the angles of light and shadow are, so there is more space. But that depends on the fact that we are perhaps in shadow trying to find space. When we displace at some velocity through the event of the Earth's shadow there could be some moment to capture the effect of the light of the Sun as compared to the data of the Sun's position and intensity before we went into the shadow ,how long it took and where we came out. So that this has modeling possibilities , or applications to the space as having stripes of shadow and light that rotates at some velocity and has on it's surface the "inertial reference frames".

The basics of e.t visual cognition as the sides are the reference to looking around shadows in space and their intelligence is far greater than ours due to the ability of them to think the reference to the numbers and strengths of those stars that are in the 123456 reference on either side of the point where light goes into shadow and shadow comes out as light.
