recent work has been on the archaeology, or anthropology of the Mayan civilization, sorcery and magic. While there are many unknowns, the theme of scifi science is still popular in the areas of the unknown and the attraction to the unknown as something more than cosmic in nature. That there is an underlying sense of study and the consequences of such study to develop and present works and theories of the topic , when it is archaeology, relates to the present moment and what we know. Because it is not supported by any factual "real time Mayan interactions" other than the existence of something we know must exist as the "Don Juan" and the traditions of sorcery of a way it has so much knowledge that it escapes the reader.
