The Fall of the Titans by Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem (1596–1598)
Dionysus , Apollo , the titans, and the cup bearers from ancient to modern times.
by Henryk Szubinski
Why are the Greek gods so difficult to understand from the personal point of view and why do some never find their true meaning?.
Perhaps it is due to the "kingdom of death" into which the first god or goddess claimed their belonging to it. As their family grew ,so too did the
number of them living beyond the limits of mortality. Each new member into their family, Zeus, Gaia, Apollo, Dionysus and so on . Each claimed the kingdom
of death until memory ran out and the name of it was conquered as "Mt Olympus" with each god having their seat or power in the "other world"
and it's meaning became lost to "mortals".
When considering that "you cannot take anything with you to the next world" , the gods had it made so that there was some way or possibility of taking water with you.
That is the value of "drink" as from ancient civilizations and the human evolution. The 1'st function as the "archaeology of ancient pottery" and the place
of the beginnings of the realization that we are 1 with water.
As such the human body is made of water and the "Titans" ,as the oldest record of the gods ,defined water as, "ambrosia or Nectar and so the history needs
some function : Such is, "the cup bearer" functions to which the cup was equal in strength to the
water of "any place in the world we know of and even the universe".
We know that water exists on other planets, we know we will go there, we know thus, that the way between any such planet = "titans" as the origins of
the "status" of "drinking", and any planet of water as the sense we will get when we have manned landings on such planets and the view from space as
we approach them will be "titan" in size or impression.
So the planets ,when they are inhabited may be displaced to or away from and the 1st function becomes that , of the grandest of impressions related to the
blueness of them=titans.
So the titans are shown as falling, but is this the representation of the ages when we find new watery planets to populate and astronauts land on them.
As such the definitions of "cup bearer" and "titan" are basically the same. The role of "Titans" is so "unknown" that it is equal to the other unknown
of the "cup bearer" which has appeared throughout ancient civilizations in the least amount. Perhaps 7 times.
The story of the "grail" and the "Merlin and King Arthur" defines the keeping of the drink of the gods, as by way of Merlin who is the "taster" of the life
giving value of the "water of life", which figures prominently in scifi movies.

In Greek mythology, the Titans (Greek: Τiτᾶνες, Titânes, singular: Τιτάν, -ήν, Titân) were the pre-Olympian gods.[1] According to the Theogony of Hesiod, they were the twelve children of the primordial parents Uranus (Sky) and his mother, Gaia (Earth), with six male Titans: Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, and Cronus, and six female Titans, called the Titanides (Greek: Τιτανίδες, Titanídes; also Titanesses): Theia, Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, Phoebe, and Tethys. Cronus mated with his older sister Rhea and together they became the parents of the first generation of Olympians: Zeus and his five siblings Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon. Descendants of the Titans are sometimes also called Titans.
The Titans were the former gods, the generation of gods preceding the Olympians. They were overthrown as part of the Greek succession myth, which told how Cronus seized power from his father Uranus, and ruled the cosmos with the Titans as his subordinates, and how Cronus and the Titans were in turn defeated and replaced as the ruling pantheon of gods, by Zeus and the Olympians, in a ten-year war called the Titanomachy. As a result of this war of the gods, Cronus and the vanquished Titans were banished from the upper world, being held imprisoned, under guard in Tartarus, although apparently, some of the Titans were allowed to remain free.
from Wikipedia:
A cup-bearer was an officer of high rank in royal courts whose duty it was to serve the drinks at the royal table. On account of the constant fear of plots and intrigues, a person must be regarded as thoroughly trustworthy to hold the position. He must guard against poison in the king's cup and was sometimes required to swallow some of the drink before serving it.[citation needed] His confidential relations with the king often gave him a position of great influence.[citation needed] The position of cup-bearer is greatly valued[citation needed] and given only to a select few throughout history.
Qualifications for the job were not held lightly but of high esteem valued for their beauty and even more for their modesty, industriousness and courage.
Egyptian hieroglyph for a cup-bearerThe cup-bearer as an honorific role, for example with the Egyptian hieroglyph for a cup-bearer, was used as late as 196 BC in the Rosetta Stone for the Kanephoros cup-bearer Areia, daughter of Diogenes; each Ptolemaic Decree starting with the Decree of Canopus honored a cup-bearer. A much older role was the appointment of
other cup bearers.
In Greek mythology, Hêbê, the Goddess of youth, was the original cup-bearer to the Greek Gods of Mount Olympus serving them nectar and ambrosia. Hêbê is the daughter of Zeus and Hera and is shown doing her cup-bearer duties in Homer's Iliad:
"The gods were seated near to Zeus in council, upon a golden floor. Graciously Hebe served them nectar, as with cups of gold they toasted one another, looking down toward the stronghold of Ilion." (Homer, Iliad 5.1-5)
Hêbê's role of cup bearer ended when she married war hero Heracles who joined Hêbê amongst the Gods and Goddesses and started a family.
Hêbê was then replaced by Ganymede.
The Roman Gods are also closely related to Greek Mythology with the Goddess of Youth Juventa being the Roman counterpart to Hêbê.
Some of the titles were given by the "Sun king" to his family from Poland until recently , perhaps the latest.
Examples are from Wikipedia.
Poland and Lithuania[edit]Cześnik (Polish: cup-bearer) was a court office in Poland and Lithuania until the end of the 13th century. The holder was responsible for the wine-cellar of the King and for serving him cups with wine at banquets. Since the 14th century, it has been an honorary court title in the Crown of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and later in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

continuing with my article:
Regarding the myth's of "Dionysus" and the drinking of wine, the figure becomes his own drinker and user of the "cup bearer "status.
Perhaps the only figure in modern history is "Jim Morrison" of the rock band, "the Doors" and his love of drinking just as Dionysus was,
but also the fact
that he wrote about Dionysus in his poems and used references to him in song and lyrics and sound
and was related to his figure as his art and music became world renowned for the "mythical" sound of
his music in the "hippy age " of the 1960's.So it is possible in the new age to actually be so popular that the fame of him was related to
the age of the "world or Earth as known everywhere in full" and that the drink as related to the "Titans" could have rolled around the Earth
into the possibility of actually "taking the cup bearer role" with him with the difference between East and West and the difference of death
and life and having his full measure of the drink. It depended in large on technology and the role of satellites that could get images and sound
from one side of the Earth to the other side. As Jim mentions the "other side" quite often in his songs. The difference in relay signals becomes the
snake, as his model, of the, "Lizard king".And the fascination of Jim with death, is the "keeping of the Greek gods", as their "Mt Olympus" as the
mix in of "Indian rituals" where there is no end to existence becomes as the Earth goddess, witchcraft and magic in rotation with the Moon and "Apollo" as the figure of
the Moon landings , the secrets of the "goddess" as exposed and the snake in all things, in motion to link everyone to the 1 Earth source.
Dionysus as the epitome of JIm
or as
Jim as the epitome of Dionysus.

Answered Jul 23 2019 · Author has 71 answers and 9.8k answer views Dionysus was the Greek god of fertility, wine, and drama who regaled in dance. Jim, well, the description could be the same. More so, though, Jim saw in Dionysus the freedom of expression of intellectual curiosity and the beauty of free formed movement of bodies in and out of rhythm. He lamented the times as they are/were when he said: "There are no longer “dancers,” the possessed.
The cleavage of men into actors and spectators is the central fact of our time. We are obsessed with heroes who live for us and whom we punish. If all the radios and televisions were deprived of their sources of power, all books and paintings burned tomorrow, all shows and cinemas closed, all the arts of vicarious existence . . . We are content with the “given” in sensation’s quest. We have been metamorphosised from a mad body dancing on hillsides to a pair of eyes staring in the dark." Of all that Jim Morrison wrote, this passage is perhaps the most descriptive of his belief in the freedom of mankind versus being shackled by conformity. (Perhaps is should be said the LOST freedom of mankind.) He also said, "If my poetry aims to achieve anything, it is to deliver people from the limited ways in which they see and feel.”
The symbol for Dionysus is the Snake.
"Close your eyes
See the snake
See the serpent appear
He’s ten feet long & five feet wide
He has one red eye & one green eye
He’s seven miles long – deadly
See him
All the history of the world on his scales
All people all actions are pictures on his scales
God he’s big
He’s moving
Devouring consciousness
Digesting power
Monster of energy
It’s a monster
Kiss the snake on the tongue
Kiss the serpent
But if it senses fear it will eat us instantly
But it we kiss it without fear it will take us
thru the gate – thru the garden
To the other side
Ride the snake
‘till the end of time." JDM
